He and She. Top Story - October 2021.
****** She It was beginning to turn into an obsession. A deep, dark, six foot seven, muscular obsession. He was all I could think about. He was all I wanted. He was who I thought of before going to sleep and he was the first thing I thought of in the morning. I dreamed of him. I desired him.

The Crater Lake Ice Carousel
It was a chilly morning in Finland. The creation of the world’s largest ice carousel was about to start and there was so much work to do. The team had been preparing for months and today was the day. Lake Lappajärvi was the perfect location being that it is Europe’s largest Crater Lake. It is about 14 miles wide and was created almost a million years ago by a meteorite impact. With the winter weather in Finland chilling the water to sub-degree temperatures, the thickness of the ice for people to work on was imperative.

The House on Maple Street
My boyfriend and I just found our perfect starter home. It was a one bedroom duplex and the rent was just lower than what we were looking for to test drive our future together. It did need some updates but the space was perfect. Other than having my home office in the kitchen, we could not have asked for more.

The Secret Cave
Johnny woke up to the croaking of a bullfrog. The deep noise startled him into sitting straight up in his little spot at the entrance of his secret cave. He knew it was late with the glittering fireflies dancing in the woods all around him. It was a beautiful sight. Quiet. Peaceful. Not like his home he left behind.

Golden Afternoon
I’m not quite sure where I am this morning. I look around the room and nothing looks familiar. I sit up and notice a pair of slippers on the floor beside my bed. My feet fit perfectly into the soft cloth. It is as if they were made for me. There is a robe hanging on the back of the door and I slip it on to explore my surroundings.

Brown Paper Packages
Everybody says going through a divorce is hard. Mine wasn’t. The divorce was easy. It is the 'getting back to life' part that is the worst. All of the household chores are mine. All of the bills are mine. All of the decisions are mine. In a way, it is kind of freeing but how did I manage this alone? Who am I as an individual now? I’ve grown out of my old self before the marriage but need to find who I have become.

The Phantom Cake
Hello world! My eyes popped open and I sat straight up in bed. What a glorious day! I can’t remember the last time I felt so fantastic. I stretched my arms above my head and smiled. A cool breeze was drifting through the sheer curtains of my window. Taking a deep breath, I smell a slight hint of pastries. I didn’t know I could smell that new Austrian bakery which opened down the street from us. Maybe the direction of the wind had changed but I could definitely sense the Schokoladen Bäckerei in the air.

Pear in a Bottle
“Mama? How do you put the pear in the bottle?” I looked down at my little one. She is almost three and is the most curious creature I’ve ever encountered. Her sparkling blue eyes pick up every detail of this planet where I now feel so small. I take the bottle from her little fingers and look through the clear glass. The yellowish green fruit is suspended in a light golden brandy, bobbing around in its protective cage. I tilt the bottle to the side and watch the beautiful pear roll to the other end. Tilting it back, it rolls away.
